Train the Trainer

 

 

Train the Trainer (also known as the Facilitator Training Programme) is a ETDP SETA accredited learning programme (accreditation number 10755) that develops skills, knowledge and attitudes in the students, who will be able to take all of these and use them in their own work environment to deliver outstanding workplace training.

 

We aim to help develop our student's skills as adult educators and the main method will be by facilitation, although the learners will be exposed to a variety of different methods that will assist them in their future roles as trainers.

 

We will look at the role of a Trainer, the different ways Adults learn, how to prepare yourself as a Trainer, presenting the Training and Evaluation.

All of these will be sessions covered in detail, which will guide you to becoming an innovative and informative Trainer.

 

Our outcomes-based training programme is conducted over 4 days. Students will be continuosly assesed throughout the programme by means of class activities, knowlegde assessments and workplace evidence.

Your learning will begin in the workshop where you will identify the skills and knowledge you require in order to meet the specific outcomes and assessment criteria contained in the unit standard.

In this learning programme, we will be covering the following learning outcomes:

 

Module 1:

  • Understand the context of skills development in South Africa

  • Analyse learners and learning needs

  • Arrange resources, locations, and personnel

  • Prepare learning material

  • Select facilitation methods

  • Prepare for the facilitation process

  • Arrange the learning environment

  • Establish and record review criteria

Module 2:

  • Facilitate learning

  • Promote open interaction

  • Enable learners to draw from and share their own experiences

  • Promote the achievement of agreed learning outcomes

  • Manage groups

  • Questioning techniques

  • Monitor learner's progress

Module 3:

  • Learner and stakeholder feedback on facilitated learning

  • Review of the planning, preparation and facilitation of learning

  • Recommendations for improvement in future interventions

 

During the workshop students will complete a number of class activities that will form part of your formative assessment.

 

Requirements:

Students must write and speak proficient English, must have matric and be competent in the learning area in which they will provide training.
